Changing the behavior of existing methods

Although you can modify existing methods (including primitive methods) to change their behavior, that is probably not a good idea.

If you need behavior that is similar to but different from the behavior of an existing method, you should:

• Create the skeleton for a new method with a different name
• Copy the code from the existing method into the new method
• Edit the code to modify the behavior of the new method relative to the old method.
